People of all ages will delight in Ballet Philippines’ holiday season offering, Snow White. This enchanting tale of a girl with “skin as white as snow; lips as red as roses” will enchant audiences both young and young-at-heart. Her adventures will introduce magical cast of characters that include forest friends, dwarves and even an evil queen.
Choreographed by Ballet Philippines’ former Principal Dancer, Effie Nañas, this production was first staged as the holiday offering of Ballet Philippines’ 19th Season in 1988. It has since been restaged three times. First in 1993, then in 1999 and most recently in 2007, with Carissa Adea, Candice Adea and Rhea Dumdum, essaying the iconic role.
For this current production, Rhea Dumdum-Bautista returns as regisseur, restaging and mounting the whole ballet, passing on the torch to a new batch of dancers and guiding a new crop of leading ladies to give life to the fairest of them all. This restaging is bound to bring the joy, magic and enchantment of dance to the holiday season.
