Life is hard as it is, that is actually a simple but very real experience many of us would definitely agree into. No wonder that a lot of people were moved by the story of this father and son in a popular show, Wowowin.
Andrew is a teenager contestant in Wowowin as they feature of young people who were in a summer workshop. Together with him is his father named Tunying who is a garbage collector in Payatas. He greeted all of his families, friends, neighbors and his classmates in Cecilia Muñoz-Palma High School.
He is an incoming grade 11 student at South East-Asia Institute of Trade & Technology. According to him, he had been in a workshop for almost two years as his friend helped him to enroll for free. The workshop was located in Makati and it was known as CIF-Creative Image Foundation where he learned to develop his skills in dancing, singing, acting, and in theater acts. Though at first he only loves dancing, he later discovered that he also enjoys singing, acting, and theater acting.
The 16-year-old teenager had also shared that his father was a garbage collector in Payatas. But he never was ashamed to have a father like him for he was the one who provides for his studies, and their family. He also has an elder sister who is a special child but despite the fact that they do not have a lot of financial resources, his father was still able to provide them to the best that he can. He is the youngest of the seven siblings and he joined the contest to help his family especially his elder sister.
All the people were amazed at their story and that could not help but cry as they heard about their inspiring life story. Mang Tunying only earned 300 pesos daily in collecting trash the whole day and with that small amount they tried to budget on their food expenses, on his children’s studies, and the medication of his special child.
It was really hard for them to meet their daily needs but he never gives up nor complain about his struggles. Many people from the live audience could not help but cry as they realized how wonderful Andrew’s family despite their scarcity in material things.
