Until this time, the role for the next Darna is still vacant after Liza Soberano withdrew for certain reasons. And there had been a lot of other celebrities who were eyed to perform the role, like the comedy actress Ruffa Mae Quinto, former Miss Universe Pia WUrtzbach, actresses Nadine Lustre, Julia Barreto, Jessy Mendiola and a lot to name.
But just recently, another name has been circulating among the social media who auditioned for the role, and some netizens have agreed that she has the features of being one of the new faces to play the role of Darna. Just what the international performer and singer, Miss Lea Salonga, has shared on her social media account, that the new Darna should be, “Someone Morena or kayumanggi to represent the darker skinned Pinays to let them know they are powerful and beautiful exactly as they are. I’d also love for her to be a relative unknown. Let the story sell the film.” And this new actress is definitely fit for the role.
She is non other than Arielle Roces, she just recently joined the Star Magic Circle Batch 2019, she started being on several TVC Commercials, and she is now one of the new stars of ABS-CBN. She graduated last 2018 form the University of the Asia and the Pacific with the course Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Management with Specialization in Business Analytics last 2018. And with her being a graduate, she may give more of her time on her acting career.
She also shared in one of her interviews that being Darna was one of her dreams when she were a child, and when she was given a chance to audition, though she did not know that she will audition for the big role, she was surprised that upon holding the script she saw the lines of Narda. And of course, she gave her best shot for this audition.
