The Darna fever on who will be the next actress to play the role is still on the roll. Since last year, we have known all along that it will be played by Liza Soberano. Unfortunately, she had this injury that made her withdraw from the project. And now, the role is open to choose a new one.
The stirring may be due to the recent superhero movies we see on our theaters that Filipinos was not able to hold their reins anymore to know who will play the role of Darna. There have been several stars to choose from, but the Star Cinema is still silent on this. So, followers and other netizens are already doing their pick, and some would provide edited photos with stars on a Darna outfit.
ABS-CBN Kapamilya star and International singer, Lea Salonga also shared her views regarding this pick. She mentioned on a tweet on what she expects to see on a promising Darna to play the role.
“So, what would I love to see as Darna? Someone Morena or kayumanggi to represent the darker skinned Pinays to let them know they are powerful and beautiful exactly as they are. I’d also love for her to be a relative unknown. Let the story sell the film. That is all.”
Her description made sense to her followers, that the actress to portray the role should be brown skinned to represent Filipina color. And to choose an actress which is new to the industry, and maybe to give her a break. That the film will encourage viewers not only for its actress but for the story line of the film.
Some netizens suggested Kapuso star Sanya Lopez who played one of the Sangres in the fantasy show Engcantadia, or Ritz Azul who is formerly a TV 5 artist and now a Star Magic Talent, or Lou Yanong, who was one of the Big 4 of the show Pinoy Big Brother. These actresses were all Morena and beautiful and followers share the same sentiments on choosing them as their pick for the role of Darna.
