Jane De Leon on The Spot Reaction After Being Chosen as DARNA


The public as well as the entire Filipinos all over the world was surprised and delighted that there was already a new actress to portray the role of the Pinay superheroine, “Darna”, after Kapamilya young actress Liza Soberano withdraw from the project because of her injured finger. Liza Soberano becomes so emotional as she gave an official statement about her giving up the role.



Liza worked really hard for it and gave her all but unfortunately, she needed to prioritize her health as her fractured index finger really need treatment and therapy. She can no longer have a strong grip and even use her finger the way it was before. Though a lot of her fans and supporters were really saddened by the news, she still promised everybody to recover very soon and to make more amazing movies with her on and off-screen partner, Enrique Gil.

With her withdrawal from the iconic role, the management opened the audition for the lead character of the project to the public, to the other celebrities and known personalities, and as well as to the number of aspirants all over the country. And finally, Olivia Lamasan, the managing director of ABS-CBN Films, made an announcement on Wednesday, July 17 about the lucky actress who will soon portray as the new Darna.

And it was none other than Jane de Leon, the former “Halik” star who portrayed as the younger sister of Lino Bartolome, Jerico Rosales’ character. She has also been a part of the girl group “Girltrends” of “It’s Showtime”. It garnered a lot of comments and reactions from the people, especially on different social media platforms.







The young Star Magic artist already broke her silence about her becoming the newest Darna. She posted a message on her social media account saying, “Maraming maraming salamat po sa tiwala!Pangako po na pagtratrabahuhan ko po ito at ibibigay ko ang lahat.” The 20-year-old actress was dubbed as a newcomer by many critics but Olivia Lamasan stated that she and the other filmmakers saw something special and interesting about her, her innocence and strong personality.
